7 Spots For Dog-Friendly Indoor Fun in St Paul

This guide is brought to you by the dog lovers at Roost Real Estate (email or call 612.255.2900), located in downtown Minneapolis. The condo experts at this full-service real estate powerhouse will find a residence that both you and Rover will adore. Chances are the condo or loft you’re looking for may not even be on the market today. Through their deep network within this market, Roost will uncover every stone and dig up all opportunities for you.

During these doggone frigid months, getting out of the house with your pup can be a challenge. All dog-friendly patios are closed down for the winter, most dog parks are buried in snow, and it’s often so cold out that getting a good walk in can seem like an in-“fur”-mountable challenge. But at Sidewalk Dog, we prefer the term “Frozen Fundra,” thank you very much–there’s still plenty of hope for getting some activity in with your furry companion during this frosty season.

We’ve already broken down some indoor, off-leash opportunities for you and your pup to get out for awhile, so we wanted to give you some additional options for dog-friendly winter fun. To start off, we’ve sniffed out some of the most fun spots in St Paul for the adventurous dog owner (You. That’s you.).

A note before we get started: this is just a taste of the dog-friendly indoor fun that the Twin Cities has to offer. Check out our directory for a full list of spots that welcome your pup inside, and get your paws on one of our Indoor Brewery Passes before they’re all gone!

1. Claddagh Coffee
Serving delicious, inventive coffee drinks alongside refreshing light fare and sandwiches, this cafe is a natural charmer. One unique offering is the “Drop Kick Murphy,” a drink made with espresso, cream, and Coca-Cola. With this and other attractive breakfast and lunch options, Claddagh Coffee makes a great early stop on a day of dog-friendly fun.

2. Hygga Lowertown
This lovely little spot is your new home away from home. Offering food and drink ranging from hearty breakfasts and coffee to thoughtful, seasonal small plates with craft beer and cocktails (plus some tasty lunch fare in between), Hygga (pronounced hue-gah) serves great meals all day long. Fido is welcome inside at this spot, as long as he’s well-behaved.

3. Burning Brothers Brewing
Burning Brothers serves up delicious flavor combinations, with varieties ranging from a Coffee IPA to a Cranberry Winter Shandy (editor’s note: I’m drooling). Even with that small amount of information, it’s hard to argue against a stop at this tempting spot, but wait: there’s more. All of Burning Bros’ bodacious brews are 100 percent gluten-free. Seriously. The fact that dogs are allowed inside is just the head on top of the celiac-friendly glass.

4. Corazon
Originally known for adding “a little heart” to the North Loop, Corazon’s Selby Avenue location is a charming space filled with all sorts of aesthetically pleasing and unique items. Everything from stationery and books to clothing and accessories is on display, including goods from local artists. When you consider that your dog can join you for a stroll through the shop, Corazon is a must-stop.

5. Flat Earth Brewing Company
Flat Earth will charm you with its unique branding and art, but don’t think that’s the whole story. It’s not all smoke and beer-ors (editors note: I’m sorry)–this brewery churns out some of the most appealing beers this side of the Mississippi, with a variety of IPAs alongside maltier dark options. Did we mention Flat Earth is included on our Indoor Brewery Pass?

6.  i like you
Having recently expanded to its newest location in St Paul, this independently owned gift shop is a haven for local artists and creative shoppers alike. Dogs are not only welcome there, but embraced!

7. The Wine Thief & The Ale Jail
The Wine Thief & The Ale Jail are small, family-owned, neighborhood stores focused on helping you have fun while discovering unique, quality wines and beers from around the world – all at prices that will make you and your pooch feel like you left with a steal.
